Our Parents Deserve Safe Phones Too, Don't They?

Okay, let's be honest for a second.

Most of us handed our parents a smartphone at some point — maybe during COVID, maybe when they moved to another city — and just... left them to figure it out. We showed them how to video call. Maybe WhatsApp. And then we moved on thinking "they'll learn."

But here's the thing nobody talks about: the same phones we take for granted are honestly a bit of a minefield for someone who didn't grow up with this stuff. And it's getting worse, not better.

This isn't a rare story anymore. It's happening in every Indian household, in every city and every village. And the sad part? The apps and the phones we build rarely think about these people at all.

So What's Actually Going Wrong?

It's not that older people aren't smart. They absolutely are. The problem is that most apps are designed by 25-year-olds for 25-year-olds. The font is tiny. The menus are buried. The permissions screen is pure gibberish. And when something goes wrong — and it does — there's no one there to help.

Here's What We Actually Do at Iyaan

We build mobile and web apps. Yes, that's the simple version. But what makes us a bit different — at least we'd like to think so — is that we don't just think about the code. We think about the person who will use it.

Honestly, Why Does This Matter to Us?

We started Iyaan Technologies in Nakodar — a small city in Punjab. Most of our team's parents are right here. They use the same apps everyone else uses. They deal with the same scam calls. They feel the same confusion when something doesn't work.

That's not abstract to us. It's personal. And maybe that's why we care more than we probably should about making sure technology doesn't leave people behind — especially the generation that built everything for us.
